Marking Type: Free Marking
This marking is free to use on any design.
Track Marks are caused by the Rukaan's natural scent glands staining the coat. Some animals show these to a greater extent while others don't show them at all. Track Marks often appear in the form of a line along the lower jaw of the Rukaan or around their tear ducts.
Track Marks specifically darken the areas around the Rukkan's cheek gland and mouth forming what is called a "tear stain" and "chin strap" marking. Rukaan can have both or neither or just one. When they just have one, it is most common for them to just have the "chin strap".
Shown here is the maximum range and maximum extent for the marking. Marking can cover this entire range.
Typical Expressions of Track Marks
Track Marks may display a hard or slightly soft edge, but should not be a pure gradient.
Track Marks should always be darker than what is under them or black. They do not have to be completely opaque but can show variation in color that appears in the coat under them.
Track Marks may take on a natural pink, brown or rusty color when displayed over markings that alter the skin color to pink, such as Piebald.
This marking has no effect on skin color. Use a normal, undiluted flesh color.
Eye color is not affected by this gene.
Effect on Metal and Gemstone elements: None
Effect on Ancient element: None
This marking is not effected by coat type.
Because Track Marks are a stain and not a part of the fur color, they go over any markings including white markings.
Track Marks are the only marking which can appear on Albino Rukaans.
The marking follows the patterns of staining around the eyes and mouth of elk, particularly males and during the breeding season.
