Just because a Rukaan is wild doesn’t mean it can’t show off! Wild Rukaan may challenge each other to feats of speed, strength, intelligence or other skills in order to demonstrate their talents or prove themselves the best (or worthy of a mate).
Entries for each month are accepted through 18:00 CST on the 25th day of the month. Please see this link for the current time and date in CST. Entries not submitted to the group inbox by that time will be saved and judged with the following month's classes IF the class theme does not change between months. We strongly encourage not entering at the last minute in case corrections are needed.
Each month, entries for each class will be collected and a 1st through 10th place winner will be chosen. If more than 10 entries per class are received, they will be split equally into two classes. Each class is judged monthly once all entries have been accepted into the gallery and rolled for rune marks.
Settings, weather and classes will change a few times a year but there will always be one for each stat type. Notification will be given at least two weeks before any change. Next change date is estimated to be April 1, 2026 (no joke).
Wild Rukaan only.
Entry must be fullbody colored with complex background or 800+ words (1200+ for 2 Rukaan)
Collaborations are allowed in classes which allow more than one Rukaan per piece, please list who did what portions of the image/literature
"Sheets" are not permitted, each Rukaan may only be entered into one class per submission
Many classes are set in Lore Locations.
Leasing is not allowed.
The frost giants of Jotunheim are amused and occasionally impressed by the newly visiting Rukaan and have built a (giant sized) course to see the newcomers show off their abilities. You’ll want to put in your best effort, as the Jotunn tend to harry the losers! Events are held at twilight and after dark.
NOTE: All pieces will count for Jotunheim lore location bonus if listed in the rune mark bonus section of your form and Jotunheim lore location depiction requirements are met. Please see the Lore Locations journal for information on how to qualify for the Jotunheim Lore Location bonus.
The frost giants have dug a labyrinth of deep trenches into the ice, so that they can stand over the exit and look down on all the Rukaan trying to make their way through. Because a labyrinth has only one path, the challenge will be not getting lost or encountering dead ends but frost giants throwing rocks down on you or trying to confuse you or scare you into turning back. You can expect other Rukaan competing against you to employ similar tactics in this free-for-all. The winner is the Rukaan who makes it to the end first. Up to two entrants per submission.
Setting: Labyrinth of trenches dug into the ice. Night.
The Jotunn have created an obstacle course of stone and logs for the Rukaan to show off their talents and see who can navigate it the fastest. The catch? Rukaan start the course in delayed intervals, and are encouraged to shove additional obstacles in the path of the following competitors as they go. Whoever is unlucky enough to go last will be facing the most difficult course, but whoever takes time to sabotage their competitors may lose time they could have used to complete the course faster. Pillars of ice mark the edges of the course. Up to two entrants per submission.
Setting: Obstacle course of stone and logs with ice pillars to mark the edges of the course. Twilight or night.
The frost giants have created a huge rough wall of ice and stone around their settlement, far taller than any building in Merilian City. The winner is the Rukaan who can scale it the fastest- you can expect this to take most of the night. Up to two entrants per submission.
Setting: Massive, rough-hewn wall of ice and stone. Night.
The frost giants share their lands with their more reclusive relatives, the trolls. Trolls aren’t necessarily warlike in nature, but they are very strong and do enjoy a good wrestling match. In these bouts, a troll stands in the middle of a stone circle. The Rukaan’s aim is to force the troll out of the circle, while the troll’s aim is to knock the Rukaan to the ground. If the Rukaan wins against their troll, they can go on to challenge a larger troll. The winner is whichever Rukaan can successfully force the biggest troll out of the circle. Troll must be pictured fullbody or significantly included in the story. The stone circle may be located anywhere in Jotunheim and the bouts take place at twilight and night. One entrant per submission.
Setting: Outdoor stone circle located anywhere in Jotunheim. Twilight or night.
The Jotunn have etched a message in an ancient giants’ code into a pillar of ice for each competing Rukaan. Behind the ice sits a fire, which is slowly melting the pillar and obscuring the symbols. The coded message describes an action that should be performed by the reader. The winner is the Rukaan who successfully decodes their message and performs the action fastest. One entrant per submission.
Setting: Cave or alcove made of stone and ice. Night.

Every few years the Rukaan group will host a Championship Feat with higher hurdles and greater prizes! This is an event like the Olympics where the very best and most experienced competitors in the world gather to see who is the best of the best from around the world. Your Rukaan must qualify to enter each class in this show.
The last Championship Feat was held in November 2024. If it is held again, the next is estimated to be held in 2027.
Qualification:
The qualification timeframe for the next Championship Feat will be from November 2024 to around the time the next Championship Feat is held.
To qualify, your Rukaan must have a 1st place result from the class stat type they are entering, or two 2nd/3rd placements in the class stat type they're entering. These results must have been earned during the qualification timeframe. Fun Classes and Junior Classes do not count towards qualification.
