Just because a Rukaan is wild doesn’t mean it can’t show off! Wild Rukaan may challenge each other to feats of speed, strength, intelligence or other skills in order to demonstrate their talents or prove themselves the best (or worthy of a mate).
Entries for each month are accepted through 18:00 CST on the 25th day of the month. Please see this link for the current time and date in CST. Entries not submitted to the group inbox by that time will be saved and judged with the following month's classes IF the class theme does not change between months. We strongly encourage not entering at the last minute in case corrections are needed.
Each month, entries for each class will be collected and a 1st through 10th place winner will be chosen. If more than 10 entries per class are received, they will be split equally into two classes. Each class is judged monthly once all entries have been accepted into the gallery and rolled for rune marks.
Settings, weather and classes will change a few times a year but there will always be one for each stat type. Notification will be given at least two weeks before any change. Next change date is estimated to be Feb 1, 2027.
Wild Rukaan only.
Entry must be fullbody colored with complex background or 800+ words (1200+ for 2 Rukaan)
Collaborations are allowed in classes which allow more than one Rukaan per piece, please list who did what portions of the image/literature
"Sheets" are not permitted, each Rukaan may only be entered into one class per submission
Many classes are set in Lore Locations.
Leasing is not allowed.
The elves are more in touch with the natural and magical worlds than most races. They welcome a contest among wild Rukaan in their lands, and are eager to spectate the feats. As generous hosts, they've even allowed the Rukaan to use some of their structures.
NOTE: All pieces will count for Twilight Forest lore location bonus if listed in the rune mark bonus section of your form and Twilight Forestlore location depiction requirements are met. Please see the Lore Locations journal for information on how to qualify for the Twilight Forest Lore Location bonus.
The elven houses, built in trees, are connected by wooden bridges and walkways of surprising strength. Race across these trails as fast as you dare. Up to two entrants per submission.
Setting: Suspended bridges between the giant redwood trees of the Twilight Forest.
Near to the village there is a naturally formed, challenging trail full of jumps, cliffs, streams, bristly bushes, and all sorts of other obstacles - but nothing built or made. The elves and local Rukaan use it to practice their forest running. Now its your turn. Follow the narrow trail and try to best the difficult obstacles as quickly as possible. Those confident in their abilities may choose to carry extra weight. Only one entrant per submission.
Setting: Forested valley with natural obstacles.
The slender structures of the elves were not designed with Rukaan in mind. A series of simple, decorated but small poles elevated a few feet off the ground are used by elven children to practice their balance. For a Rukaan, they pose a great challenge. How long can you stand completely still without falling off? Up to two entrants per submission.
Setting: Shaded forest floor with narrow balancing poles.
In this contest, each Rukaan is given a wooden slab or beam to balance in their antlers. They will then face another Rukaan in a match using only the strength of their bodies, not their antlers. One may win either by making their opponent drop their wooden piece, or by getting them to admit defeat. This competition will rely more on balance, flexibility and inginuity than brute strength. Up to two entrants per submission. NPCs may be used as opponents, if desired.
Setting: Shaded forest floor covered in shed tree needles. The edges of the field are marked with low carved wood.
The forest around the settlement has been altered by generations of elven magic, forming a magical maze. The constant mist adds to the challenge. Rukaan must use their wits, and senses beyond eyesight, to succesfully navigate this forest realm in the fastest time. Up to two entrants per submission.
Setting: A confusing maze of mist obscures anything too far away. (Complex background requirements still apply!)

In addition to the monthly feat classes, there are two "practice classes" to allow beginning Rukaan to compete on a level playing field. These are also held monthly, but work a bit differently from the monthly classes.
The Junior Class is a “junior” version of one of the main stat classes being held that month with the same class description and stat but limited to Rukaan with 5 points or fewer in the class stat. These will rotate through the various classes over the course of the theme, one per month. Every few years the Rukaan group will host a Championship Feat with higher hurdles and greater prizes! This is an event like the Olympics where the very best and most experienced competitors in the world gather to see who is the best of the best from around the world. Your Rukaan must qualify to enter each class in this show.
The last Championship Feat was held in November 2024. If it is held again, the next is estimated to be held in 2027.
Qualification:
The qualification timeframe for the next Championship Feat will be from November 2024 to around the time the next Championship Feat is held.
To qualify, your Rukaan must have a 1st place result from the class stat type they are entering, or two 2nd/3rd placements in the class stat type they're entering. These results must have been earned during the qualification timeframe. Fun Classes and Junior Classes do not count towards qualification.
