Professions are permanent specialties akin to a career that a tame Rukaan’s handler can train in to achieve better results in certain activities! A handler can only train in two Professions (unless modified by a trait). Professions are not required to participate in the related activity, they just give you tasty bonuses!
For the wild equivalent, see Aptitudes.
In order to take on a profession, the handler must have a handler profile. See the Handler Guide journal for more information. A handler may have as many Rukaan as you wish, but each Rukaan may have only one official handler for the purposes of Professions. The handler must be owned by the same player as the Rukaan gaining the profession bonus. This handler will be linked in their profile for Profession bonus purposes when a Profession level is achieved. A handler's professions will also be marked with an official comment on their profile. To add a handler's profession to an additional Rukaan after their first, an additional entry is required.
Your handler is considered untrained in a Profession and receives no bonuses until they take on at least the title of Apprentice.
For the initial gaining of profession ranks, the handler is gaining the level. One Rukaan may be specified in the handler's entries to receive the handler's bonus. This Rukaan does not have to be pictured/included in the story to receive the bonus. (Note: Two Rukaan may get the bonus IF they are in the same herd and applying for the same level.)
In order for additional Rukaan to gain the handler's existing profession and bonus, they must have an entry showing them assisting or observing the handler as they practice the profession. Both the handler and the Rukaan must be included in these entries. An entry is required for each Rukaan and each profession they wish to gain the bonus for.
Handlers and professions cannot be removed or changed unless:
a Rukaan undergoes the Passage of True Calling and changes their disposition to Wild
a Rukaan changes ownership and both the new and old owner agree to the removal of the handler and professions. If the handler is removed, the Rukaan cannot keep their profession bonuses.
Art Entries must be full body, coloured, and with a complex background. Shading is optional. The handler obtaining the profession must be pictured; Rukaan are optional. Please note rune marks will only be received if a Rukaan is included along with the handler.
Literature Entries must be at least 800 words.
Only one handler can apply for a Profession in each image, background characters are allowed however they will not be allowed to use the image as an entry.
Profession entries can also be used as a Prompt Set entry, but cannot also be used for an activity of any kind.
Rukaan, handler and entry must meet the specifications for the relevant rank described below.
Entries must be submitted to Aptitudes/Professions gallery folder.
Entries should list the profession type and level of the entry in the description of the piece.
All entry pieces must have been rolled and accepted into the group gallery.
