Marking Type: White Marking
Rarity: Rare
Leopard Appaloosa is a natural marking that covers the body in white with round holes of the underlying color visible particularly around the elbows, knees and face. It is based on the Leopard Appaloosa white pattern in horses. It does not have to be symmetrical.
Leopard Appaloosa white covers the body. The spots of underlying color showing through can appear anywhere on the body, but at minimum it must have between 5-10 spots. Generally these holes cluster at the elbows, knees and face of the Rukaan but they can occur anywhere.

Illustration above shows maximum amount of leopard spots, as well as the size range for spots.
There may be larger 'clusters' of spots that leaves patches of solid colour in certain areas of the body like the semi-leopard pattern in horses. However, they cannot replace the minimum spot amount and there must always be 'loose' spots within the rest of the body that meet the minimum amount.
Areas of the body where clusters originate are the face, ear, legs, armpits, flank, genitals and chest.
Edges of the white marking should be "eaten away" by clustered holes. White must still be visible on the neck, body, and upper and lower legs.
Typical Expressions of Leopard Appaloosa.
Leopard Appaloosa is a hard edged marking. Spots show the base color and markings that appear underneath the Leopard. They may vary in size and density but should never mimic Roan. Spots may optionally also create a 'halo' effect around them, but should still retain a hard edge.
For semi-leopard expression (maximum clustered holes) edges of the white marking should be "eaten away" by clustered holes.
Leopard Appaloosa must be white or very slightly off-white.
The "spots" are not darker, but simply holes in the white pattern that show the color that is underneath.
This marking lightens the skin to pink when it covers the skin such as under the tail, behind the elbows or around the nose. See the flesh color guide.
Effect on Metal and Gemstone elements: None
Effect on Ancient element: Can cause depigmentation and white spots on antlers and stripes on hooves. See elements guide.
Leopard spots may flow with the direction of the fur on coat types with longer hair.
Leopard with Okapi

All Other Markings (except pearl and sometimes scorch marks) go under white markings.
Other White Markings can merge with this marking. All white markings are caused by the failure of pigment to form, so all white markings on the same Rukaan will be the exactly the same shade of white.
Leopard Appaloosa is based on the Leopard Appaloosa pattern in horses, including the semi-leopard, spotted and fewspot varieties.
