Marking Modifier
Rarity: Rare
Jump to Marking:
Mismark is a gene which modifies the expression of a single marking on the Rukaan. It can affect one marking the Rukaan shows, including free markings. In most cases it changes the range of the marking, though some markings have a different non-standard effect. See each marking below for how it would be affected by Mismark.
Mismark affects only one marking. It is up to the designer to decide which marking is affected. If mismark is inherited from a parent, the offspring does not have to have the same marking mismarked as the parent.
Some markings cannot be affected by Mismark:
Track Marks
Earmark
Mismark is based on real natural occurrences where genes may express outside of the normal range of expression.
In a bred geno, "Mismark" will be included in the phenotype but it will not indicate which marking is mismarked, as this is left up to the designer.
When submitting a mismarked design to design approval, please update the wording to indicate which marking is mismarked in the phenotype. For example: "Red Scorch Marks Mismarked Piebald" (for a design with mismarked piebald) or "Liver Mismarked Natural White" (for a design with mismarked natural white).
When submitting a mismarked design to design approval, please indicate your chosen expression (example: Type 1 Mismarked splash accents) in the Notes section.
Each gene or marking which can be affected by mismark is explained below. Some genes or markings cannot be affected by mismark.
Pearl, Tint and Color Modifiers (Blue, Champagne, Wine, Grey) are not affected by mismark. Earmark and Track Mark free markings are also not affected by mismark.
