It is said that Odin Allfather once wished to drink from Mimir's well of wisdom in Jotunheim. He paid dearly for this privilege; sacrificing his right eye to be allowed to drink from the sacred waters to gain knowledge and see the future of the world.
A smaller well resides in Merilian, off the beaten path but accessible to those who know where to look. Its waters do not make one all-knowing, but can help you find something you might be looking for. The price for this knowledge is not as steep as Mimir's well, but a gesture of sacrifice is still required.
Throw an Appeal to the Ancestors into the well in hopes the ancestors of a calf might grant them their genes.
Toss in a Trickster's Token in hopes that a trickster god or spirit might be tickled by the idea of mixing up a geno with a random marking or feature not found in their family line.
Or drop in an Odin's Eye Token to ask the father of all for just about anything at all.
If you have acquired an Odin's Eye token you may toss it into the well for a chance to find a single item or wish you seek. You might get what you ask for, or something similar, or something random. The rarer or more specific the item you request, the lower your chances of getting exactly what you wanted. For instance, if you ask for 2,000 kroner you are more likely to get what you requested than if you ask for 20,000.
You are not limited to these, they are merely examples!
2000 Kroner
25 Rune Marks
Guaranteed Successful Breeding
Trickster Spirit's Favor
Horn of the Ancestors
Dragon Companion
Import Token
Trait Token
Fruit, Bark or Leaf of Yggdrasil
Breeding slot to a closed starter or NPC
A Token of Dedication
Girdr's Staff
For a Rukaan to gain a non-heritable trait
The ability to remove a starter from the lineage of a generated adoption center, lost calf geno, raffle, or import token Rukaan (Rukaan who do not originate from in-game breedings) who has not yet been bred
For a Rukaan to redeem a rank reward item before they have earned it (for example; a Marauder cosmetic blessing or Valkyrie Freya's Falcon Feather Cloak). They will not recieve it a second time when they reach that rank.
For a Rukaan with tint to be able to apply an illusion stone to add tint to a second marking in their design
For a Rukaan to apply two Bjornskin Cloaks in a single breeding
For a Rukaan to use a second bone dice to reroll a breeding a second time
For a Rukaan to be allowed to use an unlockable import background that they have not unlocked
For a tinted albino Rukaan to faintly show two markings instead of one
The ability to remove infertility from an infertile Rukaan
The ability to remove antlerlessness from an antlerless Rukaan
A random calf with a specific genotype or traits (as this would essentially be the same as requesting multiple import tokens)
The ability to remove a Rukaan from the lineage of a geno who originated from a breeding, or from an import that has already been bred (as this would cause their lineage to contradict with lineages of their existing relatives)
Adding markings to an import token geno (these need to be added with import tokens before the import tokens are redeemed for a geno)
The ability to use Ancient banners on a Rukaan who is not a transferred ancient or created from import tokens and an ancient upgrade token
The ability to use a Non-Importable Element on an import or ancient upgrade token geno
Anything that could be wished for with an Appeal to the Ancestors or Trickster's Token items
Other things to keep in mind:
You can wish for things that are not items in the game, such as the ability to specify two markings instead of one to pass in a breeding using Bjornskin cloak for one specific breeding. These cases will be reviewed on a case by case basis and not all may be possible or may have only a small chance of being granted. If your request is not possible, you will be notified and allowed to choose another request.
With the exception of Rune Marks and Kroner, you may only wish for one item per wish. For example, you cannot wish for "2x Treasure Chest" or "1x Bjornskin Cloak and 1x Lodbrock's Beard". You can, however, use multiple tokens to make multiple wishes for the same thing, or to apply towards the same Rukaan.
You can optionally increase your chances of getting exactly what you request (and minimize your chance of finding nothing) in two ways.
Rukaans with the Adept level Rune Scribe Profession bonus get a +5% boost to their request's success rate.
You can also include a small gesture of sincerity. This gesture should be a gift story or art piece for another member.
A gesture of sincerity is a small art or literature gift made for another member.
The gesture of sincerity should be:
Of a Rukaan not owned by you
Created completely by the player making the request
Not a part of a payment or activity of any kind
A fullbody colored art piece OR 400+ word story
Submitted to the Misc Art and RPs folder
Include the rune mark form for that Rukaan
May include up to 1 Rukaan owned by you in addition to the gift Rukaan
Must have been accepted into the group gallery
Appeal to the Ancestors will allow a chance for an undesigned geno to obtain a feature from an ancestor in their visible lineage that they didn’t get from the breeding. They’ll have a better chance of success with a common feature than a rare one, and with inheriting from a parent than from a great-grandparent. If successful, they’ll also gain one of the family-based traits to reflect their tie to the ancestor who honored their appeal!
Can be applied to:
Genos from breedings
Lost calves
Donated adoption center genos
Cannot be applied to:
Import token genos (these can be upgraded with more import tokens before they’re exchanged for a geno)
Generated adoption center genos (these don’t gain ancestors until they are uploaded)
Ancient transfer genos (these don’t have ancestors)
Uploaded imports (these aren’t genos anymore once uploaded)
Chances of success:
Greater for closer ancestors (better chances for a feature coming from a parent than a feature coming from a great grandparent)
Greater for features of lower rarity (better chances for a common feature than a mythic one)
Chances of inheriting a common feature from a parent are 100%.
Family Traits:
If the calf has fewer than five traits, they will gain one of the family-based traits (Family Ties, Family Pride, or Ancestral Connection) that they do not already have.
If the calf has five traits, one will be overwritten with one of the family-based traits that they do not already have.
If the calf has all three family-based traits, there will be no change to their traits.
Limitations:
Up to two successful Appeal to the Ancestors can be applied to each calf.
Appeal to the Ancestors cannot be used to exceed eight total markings/modifiers per calf.
Split elements cannot be passed with Appeal to the Ancestors.
Non-importable elements can be passed with Appeal to the Ancestors.
Trickster’s Token will allow for your choice to either:
Add one random marking/modifier to your undesigned geno (Guaranteed to be successful, but you can’t choose the gene. It will not be a gene they already have.)
OR
A chance to add a feature of your choice to your undesigned geno (The success rates will be lower than Appeal to the Ancestors, so it is better to use this one for features not shared with any ancestor in their visible lineage.)
Can be applied to:
Genos from breedings
Lost calves
Donated adoption center genos
Generated adoption center genos
Cannot be applied to:
Import token genos
Ancient transfer genos
Uploaded imports
Chances of success (Random marking/modifier):
Guaranteed to add a random marking/modifier.
Guaranteed to not be a marking/modifier they already have.
Chances of success (Specific feature):
Greater chance of success for features of lower rarity (better chances for a common feature than a mythic one)
Chances are lower than Appeal to the Ancestors. It is recommended to use Appeal to the Ancestors for features shared with an ancestor.
Limitations:
One successful Trickster's Token can be applied to each calf.
Trickster's Token cannot be used to exceed eight total markings/modifiers per calf.
Trickster's Token cannot be used to grant a split element or non-importable element.
