Freya recognizes the efforts of so many Rukaan in uncovering information on Midgard’s plight and the winter doe herself. One stag in particular risked life and limb to uncover long forgotten lore carved high in a frozen mountain cave beneath a glacier. His weekslong efforts to wade through snow and ice at terrible risk of frostbite for this knowledge caught Freya’s attention and she blessed him with pale legs to draw attention to the danger he tackled on behalf of the realm.
Of course, your contribution has not gone overlooked either.
Finally, won over by your perseverance and determination to help, the distant winter doe explains: The Eternal Winter is due to a disconnect between Midgard and Yggdrasil. The great earth tree is much larger than it first appears, seeming to grow more massive and the branches layered deeper and deeper as you climb the limbs and get closer to its core.
There’s a massive tangled overgrowth in the great limbs that connect the realm of Midgard to the heart of the tree which stretches to the rest of the realms. With the path blocked by these snared branches the Doe of winter can’t leave Midgard as she is meant to do after her season has passed. Since she has been stuck here, her magic has slowly been overflowing and spreading ice and snow across the realm. The ice is so cold and overwhelming at this built-up ice blockade that it is difficult to breathe, and there is a very real danger in attempting to press forward.
Aid the doe in carving a path through the accumulated ice, or grabbing a torch to melt it, or finding some other way to get through to the branches beyond.
Entry Requirements:
800 Word Story or Fullbody Colored with Complex Background
The Winter Doe must be pictured at least 50% or significantly involved in the story
Tame Rukaan' handlers may be included but are not required
The entering Rukaan and/or their handler must be in some way trying to clear the encroaching ice
Entries must be made entirely by the Rukaan's owner
Who Can Enter:
Each Rukaan may only enter each chapter once
One Rukaan may enter per piece, though others may be included for rune marks
There is no deadline, the event will remain permanently open to enter
In order to enter Lore Storyline Events, the Rukaan must have entered all previous chapters. Rukaan must have completed Chapter 2 to participate in Chapter 3.
Rune Mark Bonuses for Entries:
All entries for this chapter get the Event rune mark bonus (link this journal) (only for the Rukaan entering the event, not for any additional Rukaan included)
All entries for this Lore Storyline Event get the Lore rune mark bonus for featuring The Winter Doe
