Color Modifier
Rarity: Rare
Wine is a base coat modifier that gives the original base coat to a subtle lilac or wine color. The base coat should always fall into its visually distinct ranges and not mimic another base coat + Wine.
Wine typically alters all markings to a similar hue, though black markings can optionally remain black. White markings should still remain a natural white.
Wine has no specific interactions with other modifiers. If Wine and another base color modifier (Blue, Olive, or Champagne) are present, the designer may choose which one of these to display. All will remain present in the genotype, and can still be passed on to offspring.
Examples seen below are options. You are not restricted to these, but should stick within the same darkness value and they should always be lilac or desaturated purple in color.
Wine on White with Piebald (Far Left) | Wine on Red with Pangare (Mid Left) | Wine on Liver with Dun (Mid Right) | Wine on Black with Frosting (Far Right).
Ancient element can optionally be mildly affected by color modifiers. Wine can give the ancient element a slightly wine-like appearance but can be no more saturated than the base coat. The ancient element should still look natural in the context of the design.
For more information, please refer to skin and flesh journal.
The wine modifier can optionally make the skin of the entire Rukaan a muted purple and optionally lighten dark flesh color beyond the normal dark flesh range. Cannot make the flesh more saturated than the coat.
Wine in Rukaans is based in part on the color of bay roan horses and lilac/lavendar coat variations in dogs and other species.
