Marking Type: Free Marking, White Marking
This marking is free to use on any design.
Natural white (also known as free white, residual white or minimal white) is based on natural white markings found in horses. This marking will show above all other markings, and originates on the feet and muzzle of a Rukaan. This marking does not have to be symmetrical.
Natural white markings are often a sign of domestication in animals, and will tend to be be more common and more highly expressed in bloodlines which have been tame for several generations.
Natural White markings should always start from the hoof and move upwards along the leg, or start from the center line of the head.
Shown here is the maximum range and maximum extent for the marking. Marking can cover this entire range.
Typical Expressions of Natural White
Natural White should be hard-edged and regular-looking, without any blurring or roaning of the edges. Small spots (known as ermine spots) are allowed within the marking, but should be kept minimal and never mimic Appaloosa.
Natural White is a white marking, and will always be white or very very slightly off-white.
This marking lightens the skin to pink where it covers the skin. See the flesh color guide.
