Marking Modifier
Rarity: Uncommon
Tint is a gene which modifies the color of a single marking on the Rukaan. It can affect any one marking the Rukaan shows, including free markings. It changes them from their original color to any other color found in the breed's base colors or modifiers (you may pick from the color swatches of the base colors (black, white, liver and red), blue, champagne, wine , grey or the olive interaction).
Tint affects only one marking. It is up to the designer to decide which marking is affected. If tint is inherited from a parent, the offspring does not have to have the same marking tinted as the parent.
In a bred geno, "Tint" will be included in the phenotype but it will not indicate which marking is tinted, as this is left up to the designer.
When submitting a tinted design to design approval, please update the wording to indicate which marking is tinted in the phenotype. For example: "Red Scorch Marks Tinted Piebald" (for a design with tinted piebald) or "Liver Tinted Elkan Marks" (for a design with tinted elkan marks).
The color that the tint is picked from does not need to be specified in the phenotype, but please include it in the notes when you submit a design for approval so the design admins know what color range it was taken from and have an easier time checking the design. Thanks!
Tint is a not a marking itself but modifies the coloration of a marking already found on a Rukaan's pelt. Tint can not affect the base coat or a color modifier, but it can affect any marking including free markings. Tint's range will follow the range of the marking affected.
White with Tinted Points (Far Left, Points picked from Champagne swatches), Liver with Tinted Blanket Appaloosa (Middle Left, Blanket picked from Black swatches), Red with Tinted Frosting (Middle Right, Frosting picked from Olive swatches), Black with Tinted Dapples (Far Right, dapples picked from Wine)
Edges: Will follow the design rules of the marking affected by Tint. It will not alter the normal edge, shapes or textures of other marking.
Color: Tint allows one marking to take on a different color found in one of the base coats or modifiers from the Rukaan breed.
Tint can make a gradient in color between the tinted color and the marking's natural color, or it may be completely the tinted color. For gradient tint, see the Gradient Tint section.
Tint can affect the coloration of white markings. Tinted white markings are not required to follow normal white marking rules related to layering or flesh color.
Tint has different effects and limitations on Albino, Leucistic and Melanistic Rukaan. See the mutation pages for information on how tint acts on Rukaan with these mutations.
Skin and Eye Color: Tint has no effect on skin or eye color.
Elements: Tint has no effect on any hoof or antler elements.
Color: Tint allows one marking to take on a different color found in one of the base coats or modifiers from the Rukaan breed.
Tint can make a gradient in color between the tinted color and the marking's natural color. If tint occurs as a gradient, it can only be an extremely simple single gradient and cannot create any kind of pattern or shape. With gradient tint, the marking must have a minimum of 25% and maximum of 75% of the natural color and tinted color.

Aside from color, gradient tint follows the same rules as typical tint.
