Rukaan are naturally social creatures and form groups called herds. Wild and tame Rukaan both form herds which can be as small as an immediate family unit or as large as several hundred strong. Herds lend their members safety, knowledge and support throughout their lives.
In Fields-Of-Valhalla, herds are a role-play unit comprised of Rukaan that live together. Depending on their specialization, they can receive a bonus when they are with other members of their herd.
A herd is made up of:
At minimum 2 Rukaan (no maxmimum number of members)
Either Wild or Tame members (they cannot have both)
Rukaan all owned by one player or Rukaan with different players
Additional things to keep in mind:
Each Rukaan may belong to only one herd
A player’s Rukaan do not all have to belong to the same herd
Each player may create as many herds as they want
Each herd may choose one specialization bonus:
The Spirits Reward Loyalty (Rune Marks Bonus): There is a small rune mark bonus for Rukaan when featured with other members from the same herd in an image or story.
Overcoming Obstacles Together (Quest Bonus): Allows two Rukaan from the same herd to be included and rolled for the same prompt in one quest submission rather than just one. If the Rukaan are owned by different owners, both owners must collaborate on the entry.
United Front (Battle Bonus): The Rukaan gets a +3 bonus to the roll floor in battle entries when a herdmate is significantly included in the entry. Stacks with "Call to Arms" non-hereditary trait and the same herdmate can count towards both bonuses. The herdmate can be pictured joining in the fight or cheering on from the sidelines.
Well-Trodden Paths (Seasonal Exploration Bonus): This bonus will allow four Rukaan to enter a seasonal exploration instead of three as long as at least two of the Rukaan are from the same herd with this bonus. Note: This does not allow Rukaan to enter seasonal exploration areas out of season unless all Rukaan in the piece have Skadi’s Domain
Additional perks of belonging to a herd:
These bonuses apply to all herds, regardless of specialization bonus. Two Rukaan from the same herd may enter a Profession/Aptitude entry instead of the usual limit of one. They must be members of the same herd, and they must be going for the same level (Apprentice, Trained or Adept). Proof of herd membership must be included in the entry.
It is not required to submit your herd journal to the group, but you may do so to advertise to other members that your herd is open for joining. Herd journals can be submitted to this gallery folder.
Requirements to form a new herd:
Create a herd tracker (journal or stash file) listing:
- The herd’s chosen bonus
- The Rukaan members of the herd (link to their imports)
- Link to art/literature where each member met the requirements to use the herd bonus
- The herd's disposition (wild or tame)
Must list at least two Rukaan as members
Example herd tracker: Rukaan Herd Tracker
Requirements to join an existing herd and use the herd bonus:
Rukaan must have been pictured with or featured in a story with another Rukaan member of the herd at least once (500 words or fullbody art)
Link the herd tracker when using the bonus (make sure proof that they have met the requirements is linked in the herd tracker)
The Rukaan CAN use the herd bonus in their herd joining piece, but the Rukaan and their joining piece must be linked in the herd tracker before the piece is rolled
Requirements for a Rukaan to change herds:
Rukaan may change herds once per month IF they have not utilized the benefit of their herd. If the herd bonus has been utilized, they may leave the herd six months after joining it.
If a Rukaan is changing herds because they have changed dispositions they may change herds without the waiting period.
If a Rukaan is changing herds because they have changed owners and the new owner has not yet used their herd bonus, they may change herds without the waiting period.
