Shows are the perfect opportunity for a handler to show off their tame Rukaan’s talents and training and how well they work as a team. The group will host a number of monthly show classes, and members are welcome to host their own shows as well.
Entries for each month are accepted through 18:00 CST on the 25th day of the month. Please see this link for the current time and date in CST. Entries not submitted to the group inbox by that time will be saved and judged with the following month's classes IF the class theme does not change between months. We strongly encourage not entering at the last minute in case corrections are needed.
Each month, entries for each class will be collected and a 1st through 10th place winner will be chosen. If more than 10 entries per class are received, they will be split equally into two classes. Each class is judged monthly once all entries have been accepted into the gallery and rolled for rune marks.
Settings, weather and classes will change a few times a year but there will always be one for each stat type. Notification will be given at least two weeks before any change. Next change date is estimated to be Feb 1, 2027.
Tame Rukaan only.
Entry must be fullbody colored with complex background or 800+ words (1200+ for 2 Rukaan)
Collaborations are allowed in classes which allow more than one Rukaan per piece, please list who did what portions of the image/literature
"Sheets" are not permitted, each Rukaan may only be entered into one class per submission
Riders are required for mounted classes. Handlers are only required for non-mounted classes if specified.
Many classes are set in Lore Locations.
Leasing is not allowed.
The trolls of Gamlefyr are not the most gracious hosts, but the Rukaan of the valley are eager to prove their roots to outsiders. Are you bold enough to compete in these oversized challenges? Or will the strange atmosphere of Gamlefyr get the better of you?
NOTE: All pieces will count for Gamlefyr lore location bonus if listed in the rune mark bonus section of your form and Gamlefyr lore location depiction requirements are met. Please see the Lore Locations journal for information on how to qualify for the Gamlefyr Lore Location bonus.
A large obstacle course consisting of massive boulders, huge tables, old gates and other similarly rustic components had been constructed around the central fire. Rukaan and their riders must navigate through the course crossing various seesaws, opening and closing gates, performing careful maneuvering and finishing as quick and with as few faults as possible, similair to trail riding. One Rukaan and rider per entry.
Setting: Rutsic obstacle course around the central fire.
In this two part event, the rider will first select a boulder on the hill, and then push it down. Afterwards, the rider and Rukaan must retrieve the boulder, and bring it back up by whatever means they can think of. The winner is the rider and Rukaan who bring the rock back to the starting position in the fastest time. One Rukaan and rider per entry.
Setting: Rocky hillside strewn with boulders.
The trolls are a hardy folk, and used to life in mountains and valleys. This trial invites Rukaans and their riders to complete a task which many trolls perform routinely: ride up the mountains slope to a fresh spring, bring a bucket of water down (while spilling at little as possible), pour it into a basin at the settlement, and repeat until you can't anymore. The contestant with the fullest basin at the end, wins. Two rider and Rukaan pairs may enter per submission.
Setting: A valley slope, from mountain spring to a large basin.
The trolls have selected a champion, and the Rukaan and their riders must face the dismounted champion in a type of joust - the troll will be running at you with a lance of their own. Can you stay in the saddle? One Rukaan and rider per entry. The troll must be pictured or included in the story.
Setting: Large grassy field with boulders around the edges.
The valley may not be the largest location on Midgard, but its forests and sloping hills offer surprisingly challenging terrain. Rukaan and their riders must brave the woods at night with only a single torch, looking for pre-marked spots with the assistance of a simple crude map. Do you know the terrain well enough to find them all before your light dies? Winner is determined by most spots found before your torch burns down, or best time if all are found. Up to two entrants per submission.
Setting: A steep forested valley at night.

In addition to the monthly show classes, there are two "practice classes" to allow beginning Rukaan to compete on a level playing field. These are also held monthly, but work a bit differently from the monthly classes.
The Junior Class is a “junior” version of one of the main stat classes being held that month with the same class description and stat but limited to Rukaan with 5 points or fewer in the class stat. These will rotate through the various classes over the course of the theme, one per month. Every few years the Rukaan group will host a Championship Show with higher hurdles and greater prizes! This is an event like the Olympics where the very best and most experienced competitors in the world gather to see who is the best of the best from around the world. Your Rukaan must qualify to enter each class in this show.
The last Championship Show was held in Summer 2024. If it is held again, the next is estimated to be held in September 2026.
Qualification:
The qualification timeframe for the next Championship Show will be from April 2024 to around the time the next Championship Show is held.
To qualify, your Rukaan must have a 1st place result from the class stat type they are entering, or two 2nd/3rd placements in the class stat type they're entering. These results must have been earned during the qualification timeframe. Fun Classes and Junior Classes do not count towards qualification.
