Chapter 2: The Winter Doe

There is information on Yggdrasil's plight out there in the form of whispers and rumor. Eikthyrnir watches Yggdrasil closely but refuses to speak of anything he knows, though you can tell from his stance that he is tense and worried.  Some of the Ancients recall seeing guardians of the tree in past years, figures of myth and lore, but most of them haven't been sighted recently.  The only guardian who has been spotted is a pale doe of ice and quiet places, but she is difficult to reach and even more difficult to engage in conversation.

Speaking with others, you are able to pool your information into a more complete picture. The Yggdrasil tree in Midgard is but a fraction or aspect of Yggdrasil which exists in its own realm, extending branches into all other earthly and heavenly planes.

The Winter Doe, you learn, is one of four does who maintain the magic which connects Midgard to Yggdrasil’s realm. Normally they migrate through the earthly realms, causing the seasons to shift throughout the year, but the Winter Doe hasn't left. This seems to be  delaying the end of winter and preventing the coming of spring.

She is a proud Doe and not keen on speaking to mortals but with some persuasion she might take the help of the Midgardian Rukaan and their handlers if it means restoring the balance of the realms and resuming her duties. First, though, you have to figure out why she's been here so long.

Find the winter doe and convince her to explain what is happening and accept your help.

Entry Requirements:

• 800 Word Story or Fullbody Colored with Complex Background

• The Winter Doe must be pictured at least 50% or significantly involved in the story

• Tame Rukaan' handlers may be included but are not required

• Entries must be made entirely by the Rukaan's owner

Who Can Enter:

• Each Rukaan may only enter each chapter once

• One Rukaan may enter per piece, though others may be included for rune marks

• There is no deadline, the event will remain permanently open to enter

• In order to enter Lore Storyline Events, the Rukaan must have entered all previous chapters. Rukaan must have completed Chapter 1 to participate in Chapter 2.

Rune Mark Bonuses for Entries:

• All entries for this chapter get the Event rune mark bonus (link this journal) (only for the Rukaan entering the event, not for any additional Rukaan included)

• All entries for this Lore Storyline Event get the Lore rune mark bonus for featuring The Winter Doe
