Marking Type: Free Marking
This marking is free to use on any design.
Elkan Marks are based upon the natural pale variation in an elk's coat. These symmetrical markings are lighter accents that are concentrated on the rump of a Rukaan and along the lips and eyelids.
These markings focus around the eye, muzzle and on the rump of the animal.
Shown here is the maximum range and maximum extent for the marking. Marking can cover this entire range.
Typical Expressions of Elkan Marks
Elkan Markings may be hard or soft edged. They may even fade into the base coat in some areas, but there should be at least one clear edge in each area.
Elkan Marks should be lighter than what they sit over. They should be a little lighter than the original base coat and never super pale on dark coats or more saturated than the base coat.
This marking has no effect on skin color. Use a normal, undiluted flesh color.
Eye color is not affected by this gene.
