Each Rukaan in a battle is rolled a randomly generated number between 1 and 10 (their “base roll”). Their opponents are rolled on the base roll listed in their description in Rukaan Battles. The party with the higher number wins! (Ties will be re-rolled.)

For example:

Rukaan “Excalibur” is rolled from 1-10 and gets a 4.

Wild boar “Harry” is rolled from 1-8 and gets a 7.

Harry wins!

Various factors such as stats and items can influence the roll in different ways:

The roll floor (lower number) cannot exceed the ceiling (higher number).

STATS

Unless noted otherwise, all stats are taken into account.

Stats from companions, armor and single use items may exceed the 10 point per stat limit.

Stats are added to the ceiling (higher number) of the roll range.

For example:

Excalibur has 1 speed and 2 strength for 3 total stat points.

He is now rolled from 1-13 instead of 1-10.

TRAINING

Complete the "Battle Training" Prompt Set to add 5 points to the floor of the roll range.

For example:

Excalibur has completed the Battle Training prompt set.

He is now rolled from 6-13 instead of 1-13.

EXPERIENCE

Your highest-value previous battle result counts for experience points. These are added to the roll’s floor.

Rukaan vs NPC/Jhoven/Other ARPG (loss) is worth 2 points.

Rukaan vs NPC/Jhoven/Other ARPG (win) is worth 4 points.

Rukaan vs Rukaan (loss) is worth 5 points.

Rukaan vs Rukaan (win) is worth 7 points.

Rukaan vs Boss (loss) is worth 8 points.

Rukaan vs Boss (win) is worth 10 points.

For example:

Excalibur has lost a PvP match which is worth 5 experience points.

He is now rolled from 11-13 instead of 6-13.

TRAITS

Traits have various effects but can impact stats, companion effects, and battle rolls.

Stealthy- they can't defend against you if they don't see you coming! In PVP Battles: reduces your opponent's defense stat for the duration of the battle by 2. Stat cannot go lower than 0. In NPC/Boss Battles: reduces your opponent’s roll ceiling by 2.

Artful Dodger - they can't hit you if they can't catch you! In PVP Battles: reduces your opponent's attack stat for the duration of the battle by 2. Stat cannot go lower than 0. In NPC/Boss Battles: reduces your opponent’s roll ceiling by 2.

Heavy Hitter - +2 Strength in all Battles.

Tactician - +2 Intelligence in all Battles.

Flashing Feet- +2 Speed in all Battles.

Stalwart- +2 Stamina in all Battles.

Doting - Infertile Rukaan with this trait receive double the bonus of any equipped companions.

Non-Hereditary Traits:

Call to Arms - Unlocks the ability to bring a second Rukaan from their herd to a battle as backup for +3 to the roll floor. Second Rukaan from the Rukaan’s herd must be included in the piece (fullbody or significantly involved in the story, herd journal must be linked). Second Rukaan does not get any battle drops and can't use the piece as battle experience or as a battle entry.

Ragnar’s Renown - Your reputation in battle precedes you and your enemies quake in fear. Battle opponents' roll ceiling is decreased by 3. Stacks with all battle bonuses.

NOTE: Some NPC Rukaan have Battle-related traits. These are not counted in battle calculations but can be inherited if the NPC is bred. Traits will only be counted for player Rukaan in Battles.

ARMOR

Armor may be obtained through Crafting or Rune Magic.

There are four pieces of armor: Chaffron, Crinet, Peytral and Crupper. A Rukaan can equip one of each. They do not all have to be made of the same material.

The bonus of each piece of armor is dependent on the material it is made of.

Leather: +1 to final battle roll

Birch: +1 to final battle roll

Brass: +2 to final battle roll

Slate: +2 to final battle roll

Steel: +3 to final battle roll

Bone: +3 to final battle roll

Yggdrasil: +4 to final battle roll

With one of each piece, armor can provide a bonus of up to 16 points to the final battle roll.

For example:

Excalibur has a Leather Chaffron (+1) and a Bone Crupper (+3)

He is still rolled from 11-13, but now adds 4 (1 + 3) to the final roll result.

COMPANIONS

Companions have various effects but can impact stats and battle rolls. These can exceed the normal stat caps.

Companions may be obtained through Shows, Feats, crafting and Rune Magic.

Sleipnir: +3 Speed

Fenrir: +3 Attack

Huginn (alone): +3 Intelligence

Muninn (alone): +3 Intelligence

Huginn with Muninn: +5 Intelligence

Saehrimnir: +5 Stamina

Gullinbursti: +5 Strength

Hildisvini: +5 Defense

Kraken: Roll the battle twice and take the higher result
