Snowflake Appaloosa [Ap2]
Marking Type: White Marking
Rarity: Uncommon
Snowflake Appaloosa creates small natural white spots on the Rukaan that resemble small snowflakes that have settled on the animals coat. It often, but doesn't always, clusters around the topline and can be asymmetrical.
Marking Range and Extent
Snowflake Appaloosa can occur minimally with only 2 or 3 medium sized spots occurring, or can reach to cover the entire body at varying densities.
It should always be randomly placed and never create uniform shapes/lines or swirls that could mimic Fawn.
Minimum Expression
Illustration above shows minimum amount of snowflake appaloosa. As long as this amount of the marking is visible, it can appear anywhere.
Maximum Expression
Shown above is the maximum amount for the marking.
Typical Expressions of Snowflake Appaloosa
Hard Edge
Marking Edges
Snowflake Appaloosa is a hard-edged marking. The spots should be natural looking spots and not resemble any other shapes. They can be variable in size but must be opaque.

White Markings must be white or very slightly off-white.

This marking lightens the skin to pink where it covers the skin. See the flesh color guide.
This marking does not effect eye color.
Element Effects
Effect on Metal and Gemstone elements: None
Effect on Ancient element: Can cause white depigmented spots or stripes on hooves and antlers. See elements guide.
Coat Type Effects
White markings may flow with the direction of the fur on coat types with longer hair.
Interactions With Other Genes
Snowflake with Roan and Splash Accents
Color Modifiers do not affect the color of this marking.
All Other Markings (except pearl and sometimes scorch marks) go under white markings.
Other White Markings can merge with this marking. All white markings are caused by the failure of pigment to form, so all white markings on the same Rukaan will be the exactly the same shade of white.
Inspiration
The marking follows the patterns of horses with Snowflake Appaloosa.
