Sugarloaf
Retired until remap with lidar data
Retired until remap with lidar data
Map suitability: Really flat except for the really steep Sugarloaf Ridge
Land Manager: Parks Victoria
Access issues: Significant areas in the south of the map have been fenced off.
Assembly sites: Land alienation, mine works expansion and tightening permit conditions have eliminated all but one assembly site. That site is an old open cut mine that is not part of the Sugarloaf Nature Conservation Reserve, but is DEECA managed land under a General License about which we know nothing. Unfortunately, this quarry is to the north of the current map. Until the area is remapped and extended, it is of little use, hence the map retirement. Competitor instructions.
Safety Issues:
Map Status: The area was mapped by Terry Davidson some time ago using a mining company map as a base. Since then many new trail bike tracks have appeared, and land in the south has been fenced off. Would need a field trip or two at a minimum if you chose to use it. Lidar is now available for the area, so maybe wait until a remap.
