Map suitability: An awkward shape. Good for small local events.
Land Manager: Parks Victoria
Access issues:
No Dogs allowed (Park regulations). This should be communicated in event information.
Assembly sites:
Near Mandurang Cricket Ground. Base your event near the MCG! There is a small parking area near the dam (20-25 cars). There is a larger parking area (40 cars) on the north side of the oval. This is not occupied during cricket matches and as far as I know there is no Mandurang Football Club to occupy it in winter. Competitor instructions.
Along Dysons Rd. Suitable for smaller event. Parking is along the east side of the bitumen section of Dysons Rd. There is a turnaround at the south end of the bitumen which should be kept clear. Competitor Instructions.
Davey Rd. Parking for 23 cars on one side of each arm of the Davey Rd near Mandurang Rd. This site will accomodate a score event which attracts fewer entrants but is not suitable for a standard Bendigo Bush event. This is a very quiet thoroughfare with rare through traffic. However, there is a dangerous tree on the southern side of the west arm of Davey Rd. This should be marked out as a No Parking area. Competitor instructions.
Safety Issues: One mine shaft on the map.
Map status: Mapped in the 1980s using analog photogrammetry. Remapped in 2009 by Rob Plowright using the first version of the map as a base. Little in the way of updates since then. There may have been a track and fence check in 2016. The latest map file dates from then. Probably in need of a remap using a lidar base.
