Map suitability: A small area with probably the most detailed mining terrain around Bendigo. Suitable for bush "sprints" with complex fine navigation- essentially short middle distance.
Land Manager: Parks Vic
Access issues: None known.
Assembly sites:
1 Ex-Bendigo Mining parking area. Can accommodate more cars than an orienteering event will need. Only drawback is the need to cross Ham St. Competitor instructions.
2 Southern end of Coonooer St. Competitor instructions.
3 Northern end of Coonooer St. Limited parking. Only really suitable for training events. Can get very muddy in wet weather.
Safety Issues: Fast traffic along Ham St and McDougall Rd..
Map Status: Mapped as part of Diamond Hill in 1980s by Alex Tarr. Remapped at 1:5,000 by Neil Barr in early 2000s. Remapped by Chris Creely (lidar base) at 1:15,000 in 2014. This is the most recent version. Most recent update 2022 by Neil Barr. There is no current sprint scale version. Use the 1:15,000 version.
