Specimen Hill

Map retired due to land alienation
Other names: Known by Parks Vic in Melbourne as Sparrowhawk Gully Bushland Reserve, even though the Parks Vic sign at the southern entrance says "Specimen Hill Bushland Reserve".
Map suitability: Small area on edge of Bendigo once suitable for a bush sprint. Once a small sprint area, now not used due to a series of losses of land to housing, mining restoration etc.
Land Manager: Parks Victoria
Access issues:
Significant fencing off of private land since last use.
Coliban Water land in the west of map is definitely out of bounds, which is a pity as the area includes a lovely historic dam site.
Assembly sites:
Inglewood St has been used for a small local event.
It may be possible to use one of the bounding roads- Symonds St, Pinnacle Terrace or Emmett St.
Safety Issues: No mine shafts have been found on the map. Cliffs in the mining area.
Map status: Mapped by Chris Creely in 2013 using a lidar base. Remap of tracks in Feb 2017 and a few other minor changes (NB, JW).
The area north of Inglewood Street is now inaccessible due to private land development and DELWP fencing off the old dam.
