Map suitability: Open fast spur gully with many shallow mining workings

Access issues:

• No parking off tracks.

Assembly sites:

• Mia Mia Derrinal Rd. There is a clearing on the east side of Mia Mia Derrinal Rd where the O'Keefe Rail Trail Crosses the road. This site has been used for a Bendigo event. Overflow parking was needed on the Mia Mia Derrinal Rd. Competitor instructions.

• Hills Rd. Parking along Hills Rd on the southern side. This is a quiet road that is a dead end at the Lake Eppalock end. Competitor instructions.

Safety Issues:

• Junior orienteer courses should not cross Mia Mia Derrinal Rd

• The areas of deep mine shafts are surrounded by fences. These are marked out of bounds on the map and competitors should not enter these fenced areas.

Map status:  Created in 2024 from 2020 lidar. Limited field work.
