Map suitability: A small area in Epsom with some mining and gravel extraction detail. Named the Perfumed Garden for its location adjacent to the Bendigo sewerage plant. Only suitable for short bush sprint courses. Not without good navigational challenges though.
Land Manager: Parks Vic and DEECA. The eastern area "managed" by DEECA appears to be Unallocated Public Land, and if so, they are unable to permit for the use of the area.
Access issues:
sembly sites:
1 Tackaberry St.Parking for maybe 20 cars. Given only local orienteers will travel to a small area of terrain, it should be adequate. Competitor instructions.
2 Milman St off Burnside Rd. Once used for an Ironman event. No longer suitable..
3 Unnamed track on east of the map.Parking for 25 cars alongside the Treatment Facility Fence. There is additional overflow parking for a few more cars to the south off the entrance track. Competitor instructions.
Safety Issues: Fast and regular traffic on Howard Street. Can no longer be combined with Ironstone Hill in an event.
Map status: Originally mapped in 2002 by Neil Barr in the 1990s. Remapped by Neil using a lidar base in 2016. No updates.
