Map suitability: A small area of low relief terrain saved by some interesting mining detail. Suitable for a middle distance style short course.
Manager: Parks Victoria
Access issues:
No vehicle access to the terrain. Gates are normally locked unless vandalised (which is often).
Lots of surrounding suburbia. Past experience recommends locking every control solidly.
Assembly sites:
1- Parking for 33 cars on both sides of O'Callaghan St between Poppethead Rd and Santa Rosa Way. Further parking on the northeast side of O'Callaghan St beyond Santa Rosa Way. Competitor instructions.
2. Space for 30 cars in a large clearing off Howard St. Howard St is very busy so cars should approach from Epsom and exit towards Eaglehawk. Competitor instructions.
Safety Issues: Heavy traffic on Epsom Eaglehawk Road on the northern edge of map. Callaghan Street used to be a quiet dirt road but is now busier.
Map Status: Mapped by Neil Barr in 2016 using a lidar base. Track update in 2021. Vegetation updated using 2020 lidar data.
