Map suitability: Once a great map, this is now two good smaller maps due to the works of Bendigo Mining who obliterated a third of the map to create a hole in the ground where gold was not found. Eminently suitable for middle distance courses. The club oral history is that the map was not put forward by the club for the 1985 World Championships because they believed it to be too small. After mapping the area Alex Tarr declared that it should have been mapped for the World Championships carnival.

Assembly sites:
1. Coonooer St (and possibly at end of Gray St). Room for parking 35-40 cars mostly on the east side of Coonooer Rd. There are a couple of parking bays on the west side. These roads service industrial areas, but are low traffic on weekends as the businesses are usually all closed. Competitor Instructions.
2. So Bendigo Mining destroyed the heart of the original Diamond Hill map by covering it with mullock. In return they left us a very large parking area off Ham St. There is room for 140 cars here, all in marked spaces on bitumen. The land is now again managed by the State. You would need a good reason not to use this area for an event on this map. Competitor Instructions.
3. Faugh-a-Ballagh Dam. No longer suitable for an event. Parking area has been reduced.
4. Southern end of Faugh-a-Ballagh road. There is room for the safe parking of 22 cars here. This makes is suitable only for a smaller local event or Come and Try It. Competitor Instructions.
Safety Issues: Deep mine shafts have been known to open up in this area after heavy rain.
Map status: Version 1 mapped by Alex Tarr in 1980s. Remapped (V2) by Chris Creely using a lidar base (2014?). Selective track and vegetation updates to June 2022 by Neil Barr.
