Map suitability: Much of the map is typical Bendigo gentle spur gully terrain or vague flat land. As such it is suited to red line style course setting. Not suited to middle or long distance style courses.
Land Manager: Parks Victoria
Access issues:
There is a large block of private land in the north central part of the map. It is south of the assembly area marked 2 on the map. This has been treated as public forest by walkers and mountain bike riders. No Tresspasser signs have now gone up so keep out of this when setting courses.
The dam in the east of the map was once a pleasant assembly area. This was private land and has now been sold and fenced off. Expect a large and expensive house to appear eventually. The line of private land on the east of the map now effectively cuts this map off from the Stumpy Gully area.
Assembly sites:
1. Green Gully Reservoir. Excellent assembly area at old picnic ground at the Green Gully Reservoir. There is capacity for 40+ cars. Approach via Edwards Rd and Dile Rd. The approach directly off the Calder Alternate Highway is not always passable and convoluted. Google Maps takes you to a dead end. This needs to be made clear on Eventor. Use these Competitor instructions.
2. There used to be good parking off Edwards Rd. This is undeveloped private land and No Trespassing signs have gone up. Do not use.
Safety Issues:
At Assembly area 1 children should be supervised around the dam.
At assembly area 2 the road carries fast traffic. Caution on entering road and for children near road.
Map status: Version 1 base map was 5 metre cadastral base contours. Fieldworked in 2008. Remapped using a 2010 lidar base in 2016. Track update 2017. The track network in the east and centre of the map is dynamic as mountain bikers continue to expand their track network with impunity. Do not expect the map to be up to date with regard to MTB tracks.
