Sustained Investigation #7

Persephone

acrylic paint

This project is one I did quite a while ago. I did it for fun but it fits my theme fairly well. My theme is centered around death and demons. This paint isn't supposed to be too sinister. I wanted to try and paint a human skull because I'm always painting skulls yet I had never done a human one. I added the flower for color purposes. This painting took me around 40 hours which isn't too long compared some others I've done.

I only used acrylic paint on this project. It is the material that I work with the best and I wanted this to look as good as possible. I also have the most fun when I work with paint because I am always challenging myself to get better at my techniques.

This one of my best paintings. I am extremely proud of this one. I started off with just the skull but when it was done I decided it needed some color. So I added the gold teeth (those were also to make the skull look less like my reference image). I added the flower last because I strongly felt like the painting was in need of a pop of color, but not too much. I am actually surprised with how well this painting turned out. I have no complaints about any part of it.
