3D Design

I can't say that I was necessarily looking forward to this class. All of the work that I do is 2D and I never really cared much for 3D art. However, this class ended up being more enjoyable than I first thought. In some of the projects I got o combine my 2D skills with 3D art. Yes, some of the projects were challenging and not exactly enjoyable but I think that doing a different kind of art that was out of my comfort zone helped me to grow as an artist. I tried to have fun with all of the projects because I knew this wasn't really my thing but the only way I was going to enjoy it was to try and have some fun with it.

I think my art shows improvement in the form of creativity. Some of the projects that I did are a lot more creative than others. Building something 3D forced my brain to think differently and after I got the hang of it my work started to become more creative and complex. These projects also fully display my strengths and weaknesses. The ones that involve painting, in my opinion, are much better than those without. I am so used to painting thing from one angle that it was hard to create something that could be seen from all angles.

Obviously I have my favorites and least favorites. I'll start with the negative first. The most challenging one here for me was the paper sculpture. I don't know origami or any crazy folding techniques nor have I ever built something with only a sheet of paper. I had almost no idea how to do what I saw in my head and because it was so challenging it happens to be my least favorite because it didn't come out as good as I would have liked. The project I am most proud of would definitely be the clay sculpture. I was really excited about that project and I had a lot of fun building the stingray because I love stingrays. What made it even better was the the plan changed and I was allowed to paint on it which is probably the only good thing to come out if quarantine so far. I love my stingray and it is something that I will probably keep forever. That was one of the good things to come out of this class and while it had its ups and downs it was still enjoyable.
