New Vision of an Old Work #3

I've been wanting to draw this cat ever since I took the photo a year ago. The piece of work that used as inspiration for this piece was my midterm assingment for 2D last year. That watercolor painting was based off of a cat and it was absolutely horrific. I decided that it would make great inspiration because it was terrible and I badly wanted to redo it. It was easy to create this final piece because I already had a really solid idea of what I was going to do.

I used scratchboard for this project. I wanted a material that would be easy to draw a black cat on so I decided on scratchboard because I only had to draw in the highlights.

This was not my original idea for this project. I started out with a different piece and a different vision on my mind. However, when I started that one I didn't like the way it was turning out so I abandoned it and switched to this one instead. This project only took me about four hours which is an extremely short time to work on a project for me. I am still surprised at how well it turned out because this was only my second time using scratchboard. I will definitely be using this material again in the future.
