New Vision of an Old Work #2

For this project I took another one of my old works and stole some inspiration from it to create a new piece. The work that I decided to use for my inspiration was one that I did last year in 3D. It was my clay stingray sculpture that I had painted an ocean scene on. I love stingrays and decided that it would be fun to draw one. Obviously the inspiration that I took from that piece was a stingray. I then researched stingrays to find one that I wanted to draw (that wouldn't be too complicated). I settled on the black diamond stingray because it would be easy to do with the method I had chosen.

I used only pen for this project. The technique is stippling so the entire thing is a bunch of dots made with a 005 micron pen.

This project didn't take me nearly as long as most stippling projects I've done in the past. It helped that most of the area was solid black so I just had to fill it in. I probably spent about 10 hours on it which isn't that long for me. This drawing came out better than I expected and I feel like it very clearly shows the ideas present in the inspiration work.
