Stars and Stripes

Red, White, and Blue Wolf

10.5 by 15 inches

For this project I had to combine the American colors, red, white, and blue (as well as black) to create a drawing or design. I also had to include the stars and stripes pattern in my drawing which I used as the background. I chose to make mine more realistic because that's what I'm better at. I chose to add a wolf and a pitbull in my drawing because I have strong feelings connected to both of those canines. The pitbull symbolizes how things are never quite what they seem and should not be judged based off of reputation. The wolf symbolizes my spirit animal. It also represents that even the most powerful and imposing things can be destroyed. All of those have been seen in American history.

I only used colored pencils on this drawing. I also only used the four required colors. The wolf and pitbull are drawn with black colored pencil, not grey.

I originally had a few ideas about this project. They were wolves and dogs separated so I was only going to do one or the other. But, with the way that I wanted to do meant that there would be a lot of background showing so I decided to combine a few of my ideas t together. After I drew out my final design I did not change it at all and I m pleased with the way it turned out considering that I never draw with colored pencil. However, if I had any next steps it would be to make the fur on the wolf darker.
