Artists statement:

My task was to create a design that I could scratch off of a clay slab.

For this project I used black paper, white pencil, clay, black ink, and various clay tools.

I started out by sketching a design on a black piece of paper and filling it with white colored pencil so I was able to get an idea of what the end result would roughly look like. I transferred it onto a clay slab with ink on it and scratched off all the areas that had white on the paper. I then fired it and covered it in glaze.
