Title: Cheep Sparrow

Materials: I used white paper, pencil, and black ballpoint pen.

Size: 9' by 12'

Date: 9-22

Artist's statement:

I started out by sketching the sparrow. It took me about 7-8 tries to get it the way I wanted too, than I added shapes. I had a little bit of struggles when it came to making patterns, and the shade, but I figured it out in the end. Everything is not in a straight line, but all have different contrast. I really enjoyed filling in the spots of black, and how there's a difference of shade in the head and tail. I used a 2H pencil, and a papermate black ink pen.

Title: Attendance

Materials: White printer paper and graphite.

Size: 9' by 12'

Date: 10-3

Artist's statement:

When I first started, I spent 15 minutes deciding a way that my hand would be shaped. Easy enough so that it's doable, hard enough to be out of my comfort zone. I figured out the jist of it, and after, all the other hands were a breeze. I chose to title this Attendance, because all the hands reminded me of how in elementary school when attendance was being taken, kids would shape their hands in the most random ways when their names were called. I used my hand, tortillons, a makeup sponge, an eraser, a 2H pencil, and an 8B pencil.Â
