Artists statement:

My task was to create a black and white design of something that I was able to transfer to a piece of linoleum to be carved into a printmaker.

I used white paper, a small block of linoleum, carving tools, a pencil, a sharpie, ink, watercolor, a bench hook, and an ink roller.

I started out by sketching my ideas on a piece of paper and filling them in with sharpie. I chose to create a picture of Ghostface because they are in my favorite movie, and one of my favorite paintings. I chose the one that looked more difficult to carve so that in the end it would look better as well. I transfered my design to a piece of linoleum and carved out all the parts I wanted white. I printed my design 18 times in all. I chose the best 4 out of each category. The second best black one was the one I decided to add on to. I splattered red watercolor on the page, and touched up parts of the black.
