Scared Crow
Artist Statement:
I was prompted to create an image of a scarecrow that was afraid of crows. I decided to draw a creepy reprisentation of what I thought that could look like.
To create this I used white cardstock paper, a 2H pencil, charcoal pencils labeled dark and light wash, a tortillon, and a black ink pen.
Over the summer I got into the habit of drawing things that look tormented, reused, or flat out crazy. I felt like doing the same type of thing again. I sketched out a scarecrow on the back of the paper running away from a murder of crows but I dident like that particular design. Instead I decided to swap the styles of the scarecrow and the bird. I made the bird have stichings, patches, and an indent in its head. my goal was to make it look like a generally creepy crow. I also wanted to make the limbs of the scarecrow as long as I felt to make it seem old and scraggy.Â
