Assemblage Sculpture

Artist Statement:

For this project I was prompted to create something using recycled materials and/or papers. I decided to make a ghost with a top hat.

To create this I used Newsprint, Tape, Paper, Tissue Paper, Cloth, Glue, and Scissors.

I started off by balling up newsprint to get the basic shape of the ghost. I wanted it to be small but still big enough to identify what it is. I covered it in tape and paper and then used tissue paper and glue to paper maché it white. I made the hat out of paper and black tissue paper and used hot glue to stick it on. I wanted to add a little dress or something so I used scrap fabric to create what kinda looks like a belt. I then used tissue paper to create the eyes and mouth. the blck coloring of the tissue paper bled a little onto the white.
