Artist Statement:

My goal was to create something to answer the question of how spiders change their surroundings.

I used the shadow of paper to create this.

I started off with a quick sketch of what I wanted the web to look like. It was originally going to just be a smaller flat circle but I thought that I could get more detail if I made it on a larger scale. I made each of the 3 pieces individually making sure the pattern was different each time. I pieced them together with tape and used fishing wire to hang it up near a corner of a wall. the most challenging part was getting the right angle for the photo. Each angle had to line up with the wall, and I ended up needing to put paper over a vent on the wall. I think I might add a larger spider to this at some point.
