Artist statement:

My goal was to create something that could become a poster to promote organ donation throughout teens and adults. I used paper, a knife, watercolor, glitter, and salt to create this. I started by making a rough draft of what the general shape of the butterfly would look like. I wanted to use black paper and neon colored pencils to create a glowing affect, however I was unable to suceed in that goal. I instead wanted to cut out the parts around the veins and glue it to a piece of paper using watercolor for the veins. This worked out well and I needed to add the words next. I messed up when deciding to use sharpie without a pencil sketch so I tried to hide it with black glitter, however that didn't work either. I took the origional piece of black paper and glued it faced down on another sheet of paper. My plan for the soon future will be to take both butterflies and put them side by side and add the words around it.
