For my sustained investigations, I chose to do the question, How can I describe phobias through art? I started with daemonophobia which is the fear of demons. It sprouts from religious beliefs. I decided to make an image of my depiction of the 7 deadly sins using different colored inks.
To start, I drew numerous sketches about how I want each demon to look, and its colors. I sketched the whole thing on the paper, and started with Beelzebub. I drew him with a gas mask sort of thing, and fly wings. Next was Leviathan. the color green and blue reminded me of envy, and Leviathan is also a type of sea monster/dragon. For Satan, I used an original drawing I had made, and changed the position he was in and gave him more color. For Asmodeus, Lust reminded me of peacocks and how they dance and flash their tails to attract a mate, so I made a peacock. When I was making Belphegor, I was in a sort of artist block, and I didn't have a lot of time so I drew a sleeping hedgehog. For Mammon, I tried to add multiple colors and jewelry to show greed. Lucifer was the hardest one for me to come up with. I wanted to show how he was a fallen angel, and how he was the snake in the Garden Of Eden. I drew a broken horn and a fallen halo to show that. I kept accidentally spilling the ink on my paper, so in the end I mixed the holy water I had with some food dye with a similar color and splattered it on the page. I liked it before I spilled all the ink and water, but I tried to make it look purposeful.
