Tidal Shift

Artist Statement: 

For this, I had to make something that shows climate change and how it is affecting the world. I decided to make different types of phytoplankton and algae, because while trees do a large amount of photosynthesizing, microorganisms do up to 80% of it. I used pencil to draw out my design and filled it all in with alcohol markers. I decided to add oxygen, carbon dioxide, and dihydrogen oxide molecules in the background, because all of those have an important role in photosynthesis. My plan in the future is to add to the background some sort of oil spill, or toxic chemical that infiltrates the oceans and streams due to fossil fuels that kill the microorganisms to further show my topic.
