Zoomed Shoe

The High Top Volcano

2h pencil, watercolor paper, black pen, colored pencil, grey crayon

10x6

My favorite part of this artwork is the fact that this was a shoe and now it has been turned into a volcano. This project was very fun to do because I had to use my imagination to make a shoe look like a volcano. My least favorite part of this drawing is you can tell that it was a shoe especially when you look towards the laces. I tried to make most of the shoe blend in with the volcano by making it a part of the volcano but the laces is one area where I think you can still see that it was a shoe. The inspiration for creating this piece of artwork is the fact that it was a shoe. This drawing started off as a sketch of the top half of a red converse. The idea of the volcano came from the shoe being red, like lava, it also came from the shoe being a hightop shoe I thought that the drawing could be made into a cool volcano. If I were to create this piece of artwork again I would add more texture to the rocks. I tried to add as much texture as I could with the materials that I had but I would definitely add texture and color to the rocks to make the drawing have more dimension. Some of the concepts that I learned from this artwork is how you can turn one object into a completely different object by adding new lines, color, and texture. Something about this artwork that surprised me is how fun it was to make. I thought that this artwork was fun to make because I got to use my imagination in a new way. To create this artwork, I started by looking at the top half of my converse and drawing it with a 2h pencil. Next, I traced over with a black pen to make the lines darker. Then I used red, orange and yellow colored pencils for the lava and gray crayon for the rocks.
