Realistic Self-Portrait
Self Portrait
My favorite part of this artwork is how is my eyes. The reason why I like my eyes in this artwork is because if you look closely at the photo reference and then you look at how I drew the eyes look very similar. My least favorite part of this artwork is the little wisps of hair. I don't like these because there is something about them that look slightly off from the photo reference.
The inspiration for creating this artwork is a photo of me. If I were to create this artwork again I would re-do the hair and I would not draw myself with a mask on to draw the full face. The reason why I would re draw this is because I would not draw the mask on to try and do somthing different and challenge myself. the reason why I would re draw the hair is because I think that it looks a little off and the pieces are to thick and dark than what they where in the photo reference.
Some concepts that I learned while creating this artwork is how to draw a self-portrait and the many different techniques that can help to draw it. Something about this drawing that surprised me is how accurate the eyes look. This surprised me because I thought that the eyes would be hard to draw and they wouldn't turn out well but I thought that they turned out pretty good. To create this artwork I took a photo reference of myself and used the grided technique to get accurate shapes and sizes. Then I used different types of pencils to help with the shadows and darkness.
