beautiful oops

The Tallest Contest

White paper, black pen and colored pencils

8 1/2" x 11"

The ideas that are visually evident in my work is the idea of a beautiful oops and a man being taller that other people. The idea of a beautiful oops in my art is because you can see in original ink mark that was originally randomly on the page. Now when you look at this drawing you see the ink mark as a leg of a very tall man. This projects relates to my life because I am short so I am not like the man in the drawing so this drawing partially represents the opposite of my hight. I choose to make the ink dot a leg of a man because I like to draw simple drawing that have color and a story and I thought that if I made the ink dot a leg it could turn into a whole story within the drawing.

The materials that I used for this artwork is a 2hb pencil, a black ball point pen and a blue, yellow, green and purple colored pencil. I used the pencil first to sketch the drawing and then traced I over the lines with a black pen to make the lines look cleaner and more defined. Next I decided to add one small pop of color and I choose to do that on the award that each man is holding. This drawing was really run to make because I had to use a-lot of creativity to make it look like the ink mark was made to be there.

The process that I used to create this artwork is I used I had to look at the piece of paper many different ways before I actually knew what I was going to draw because it was hard to come up with what the ink mark could be. Then I did a light sketch to make sure the ink mark fit the drawing and once I decided it did I traced over the sketch with a black pen. Once I completed tracing over with a black pen I decided to add the color with colored pencil. My project definitely evolved because at first the drawing was just going to be a tall man but then as I continued to draw I decided to make it a hight contest and add other people into the drawing. My next steps could be adding a sky because I feel like that is the one thing that is missing in this drawing. I also could add more color into the drawing as well.
