Maine duck stamp
9x12
colored pencil and water colors
The main idea that guided my artwork is that I liked the idea that this duck had a blue beak to make it different from the others. I also thought that its habitat would be fun to create because it not only had water but also lily pads and grasses.
The materials that I used for this artwork is I first used graphite to sketch out my duck. I used reference images from the internet throughout this whole process so that I could try to make the duck look as accurate as I could. After I finished sketching I then started with the blue water color for the back round. After this I moved onto the grasses and lily pads, then the duck body, the duck beak and head, and at the end I did the shadow in the water.
My process while making this artwork was I chose the duck and then I started sketching it so that I could move onto painting and coloring. I wanted to pick a duck that had a unique feature. I did this because last year I picked a duck with blue feet and I thought it was fun to draw, so this year I picked one with a blue beak.
