Gorilla family
The main idea that guided my artwork is a picture my mom took when we went to the zoo of two gorillas sleeping together. I choose this picture because I thought that it would be entertaining to make an animal. Another reason why I choose this picture to make on the scratchboard is that I thought that it had a good value of lights and darks.
I made this artwork by taking a piece of scratchboard as well as a reference picture while using different types of tools to make the picture come out on the scratchboard. the tools that I used were the 2 meatal-tipped scratch sticks that were supplied in the art kit, the wooden stick as well as the fiber brush. The tool that I used the most was the fiber brush or the metal-tipped tool with the red handle. I found these tools were helpful to pull out highlights that were all different shades.
The process that I went through while I made this artwork is first I found a picture that I knew had many different highlights and shadows. I did this because I knew that it would be more fun and show more detail if I choose a picture like this. My first idea was to do one of my dog but I switched because I had already done the charcoal and ink project with a picture of her so I wanted to try something new.
