Introduction
You and your group members have been hired to produce America's next hit cookie. You will need to determine a recipe, come up with a secret ingredient, and submit your cookie to the general public for testing. Finally, you will present your results to the public via a colorful poster.
The Task
The cookies you make must be delicious and exciting or the public will not approve them. To accomplish this your team will:
Use dimensional analysis to generate a recipe for your cookies.
Discuss with your group which secret ingredient will be added to make the cookies unique and marketable.
Bake the cookies according to your recipe (responsibilities for this can be determined by the group).
Bring the cookies to class on the testing day and submit them to your fellow students for testing. Gather feedback using the feedback form and use for analysis.
Analyze your results and use the data to drive your advertising campaign.
Create a poster that details the process and results of your cookie creation, along with an advertisement promoting the cookies to the public.

The Process
Hold a preliminary meeting where your group reads through the rules for the project and decides on an appropriate division of responsibilities.
Complete the Dimensional Analysis Activity and use the knowledge to convert your recipe into units that are used in the kitchen. Use the recipe here.
Hold a discussion with your group where you review several possible secret ingredients and choose which one to add and how much of it to put in your recipe. Include the ingredient and amount on your recipe.
Decide among your group members who will be responsible for making the cookies. This process can be delegated to one member or can be done by several members who meet after school. Bake the cookies using the recipe that your group approved and bring them to class on the testing day determined by Mr Alexander.
On testing day, your group must sample cookies from each of the other lab groups. Your group will fill out a Cookie Analysis Form for each cookie that you try. Each of the other groups will sample your cookies and will fill out an analysis for your cookies. Save these forms and use them for your poster.
Create a poster that gives all the details of your experiment and advertises your cookie to the public. The poster must include.
Abstract: Students will write out what type of cookie they wanted to create. How did you hope the public would react to your cookie? What kinds of things did you do during the experiment to make your cookie experiment successful?
Materials: What items are needed to perform this experiment? Include the converted version of your recipe here, complete with secret ingredient.
Procedure: These are the step by step instructions for carrying out the lab. The procedures should be so detailed that if another student read them he could conduct the lab from these instructions and get the same results.
Data: Any observations made during the lab should be recorded here. If the mixture turned a different color, or if bubbles were seen, or anything else, it should be written down. You should also summarize the feedback you received when other students sampled your cookies. How did the public like them? Be specific. Also, this is the place to include pictures taken during your experiment.
Analysis: This is where you react to the feedback from the public. Did you make any mistakes during the conversion process? Did you make any mistakes following the recipe? Discuss how satisfied you are with your choice of secret ingredient. This section must include at least 3 analysis statements.
Conclusion: Your conclusion will be in the form of an advertising slogan. Write a slogan that accurately describes the strengths (if any) of your cookie in a creative and catchy way.
