you to feel pain?
In which layer is fat located?
- Integumentary System Video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Orumw-PyNjw
3. Anatomy & Physiology of the Integumentary System
We're trying a new strategy today. The goal here is for you to
memorize and then translate some information about the
integumentary system. By doing so, I hope you'll understand
the similarities and differences between the layers of the skin,
and between the components of each layer. Also, I hope you'll
memorize the different accessory organs (skin, nails, glands) that
are present in the skin. Here we go...
a. you'll need a notes page in your binder.
The title is in bold above
b. Individually: while reading, I want you to write down
ten facts, similarities, or differences you've found.
Facts could include abbreviations, pictures, definitions,
descriptions, etc.
c. Group: In your group, each person will choose one fact,
similarity, or difference, and read it out loud. Don't be
super loud. We don't all need to hear you ;-). Listeners
should either check the item off on their notes if they
have the same bit of info already written down, or add
it to their list if they don't. The idea here is that you as a
listener have to compare what you have written, and how
you interpreted it, to how someone else interpreted it.
This helps improve your comprehension.
d. Whole class: We will repeat "c" as a class
Period 2--> LINK
Period 3--> LINK
e. So, what's the reading??? CH3, pg 50-54 (just the top of 54)

This will be your main focus today. If you look at the first stage of the digestive system (Oral Cavity)
you'll see that I've completed an example for you. You can restructure my example to make it 'yours',
or just do your own from scratch. I've adjusted the template a bit (rewording 'steps' to "stages", and
putting in () where I did part 1 in the example and where I did part 2 and part 3.
Period 2, you should complete stages 1-6. Make sure it's shared with me at j.alexander@tch.birminghamcharter.com
Period 3, you should complete stages 1-5. Make sure it's shared with me at j.alexander@tch.birminghamcharter.com

structural and functional unit of the kidney.[1] Its chief function is to regulate the
concentration of water and soluble substances like sodium salts by filtering the blood,
reabsorbing what is needed and excreting the rest as urine. A nephron eliminates wastes
from the body, regulates blood volume and blood pressure, controls levels of electrolytes
and metabolites, and regulates blood pH.
In humans, a normal kidney contains 800,000 to 1.5 million nephrons.

Notes:
The nephron (from Greek νεφρός - nephros, meaning "kidney") is the basic structural and functional unit of the kidney.[1] Its chief function is to regulate the concentration of water and soluble substances like sodium salts by filtering the blood, reabsorbing what is needed and excreting the rest as urine. A nephron eliminates wastes from the body, regulates blood volume and blood pressure, controls levels of electrolytes and metabolites, and regulates blood pH.
In humans, a normal kidney contains 800,000 to 1.5 million nephrons.
