DAY 51

 WARM-UP

A 45-N force is exerted in the upward directionon a 2.0-kg briefcase. What is the acceleration on the briefcase?

CLASSWORK

1. Goal: SWBAT calculate the angle when given hypotenuse and one leg

Pause the video at 0:45. Find the incline angle - Here's the video --> LINK

Start the video, and check your work

2. Goal: SWBAT draw a FBD

Pause the video at 1:19. Draw a FBD. You have 30 seconds. 29, 28, 27.... hurry up!

Start the video, check your work. It should be 12:30 or earlier. If it's after 12:30, you're moving toooooo slow.

3. Goal: SWBAT: Find the sum of the forces in the y (perpendicular to surface - looks like an upside-down T) and x (parallel) directions

Pause at 2:41 and write an equation that sums up the forces in the Y (perpendicular) direction.

    Solve for Fg and Fn.

4. Enjoy the magic trick :)

5. Goal: SWBAT... Use Newton's 2nd law to find the coefficient of static friction on an incline

    A. USE G.U.E.S.S.. Draw the FBD. Pause the video as above, do the work, then check answers. Discuss answers the Mr. P's questions with your groupmates.

    B. Solve for coeff of static friction

6. Group Challenge Problem

    We begin at 1:45

7. Solutions to Day 50 HW (the CH5 Exam Review) are below the homework

HW:

Study for Exam (which is Thurs 02/09)

Exam will cover vocab, theory, and problem solving

Use pg 139 as a review

Create a 1-pg notes sheet (single side) and bring your one page of equations

Complete the Day 50 Extra credit if you need the points

    B. Solve using G.U.E.S.S.

CLASSWORK:

1. HW Review

Think about our Intro to Torques activity. Which stations are the HW problems similar to?

2. Finding Net Torque:

    Notes & Demo

Think about our Intro to Torques activity. Which stations are these CW problems similar to?

    Example Problem

3. Practice Problems

    pg 210: 32

    pg 205: 16-20

You'll be putting your answers on the board and explaining them, so stay focused, and make sure you            understand each problem... :-)

Tutoring available after school Mon, Tues, and Wed until 4:30. Lunch almost every day.
