DAY 20
Good morning students. Like the previous classes, anything written in bold font is to go in your notes for today, and to be uploaded to the Google Classroom via photo by the end of the period.
Have a productive day :-)
Mr. Alexander
WARM-UP:
a. Job Opportunity: A local dentist office is looking for a senior with a shortened schedule to work part time in their dentist office after school. Do you happen to know any students that have an interest in dentistry and also have a shortened schedule? They pay $12+ per hour with an opportunity to get raises. Since it’s a unique employment opportunity I wanted to reach out to students who might have an interest in that field. If you have students in mind can you send them to me or I can put the job ad in your box.
Thanks,
Angela Zook

CLASSWORK (complete by end of period)
a. If you didn't already, take two portions of the CNA Online Practice Test.
Client Rights
Legal and Ethical Behavior
b. In addition, take the Emotional and Mental Health Needs test
Write your percentage correct in your notes for each practice test (I heard it just tells you "Pass/No Pass"). That's fine.
Link to the test is HERE
Title your notes: Work Ethics
c. Key Terms
TB pg 46. Choose the four terms you use the least (likely "preceptor" and "stressor", plus two more) and in your notes write sentences using those four terms. Underline the terms.
d. Reading & Questions
Read TB pg 46-48. While reading, answer the following, which are in order starting from pg 46
Top of pg 47, read the statement from OSF St. Francis Med Center. In one to two sentences, what is the point of this statement?
On pg 47, list each of the 8 Health items, and the topics listed in Hygiene and Appearance sections, in your notes. Then, assess your level with each topic, 1-worst, 10-amazing. For instance, I have a friend who doesn't care much for vegetables, and likes to eat hot Cheetos with queso sauce in the bag. I'd give her a score of 4/10.
After looking at the "getting a job" section, explain to yourself which one way is the best way to find a job.
In Box 5-2 pg 49, if you were an employer looking for an employee, which five traits would be the most important to you? Make a list, then choose one and explain why it made the list.
Look at all the text and all the fill-in sections of the job application on pg 50-51. Of all the required spaces you'd need to fill in, which can't you complete? In your notes, list each section you can't complete, and brainstorm for yourself (write) what you'd need to do to be able to fill in that section. For example, some of you have never had a job, so you can't fill in the recent employment section. How could you get something to write in that section? Right, you'd need to get a job. Or, maybe you've babysat the neighbor kid since 6th grade. THAT COUNTS. If you don't have a job, who can give you a letter of recommendation? Who knows you, but isn't family? Think about it....
Review Box 5-3. Write the purpose of "N/A" in your notes
Review Box 5-4:
Of the questions the interviewer might ask you, list the five you feel you'd have the most difficulty answering, then choose one and answer it.
Of the questions you may ask the interviewer, list two you'd feel comfortable asking, and two you wouldn't.
Read the "after the interview" section on pg 54. Answer, What should you do after the interview?
e. Next class, we'll look at Work Ethics as they apply to a new job, and to your time working for the years after that.
f. Turn in a photo to the Google Classroom
Homework:
Turn in a photo of today's work to the Google Classroom
