Hi! Click the link -->https://youtu.be/Oxbpfo9_ATI
Warm-Up:
1. Goal: SWBAT calculate the angle when given hypotenuse and one leg
Pause the video at 0:45. Find the incline angle - Here's the video link -->
Start the video, and check your work
2. Goal: SWBAT draw a FBD
Pause the video at 1:19. Draw a FBD. You have 30 seconds. 29, 28, 27.... hurry up!
Start the video, check your work. It should be 12:30 or earlier. If it's after 12:30, you're moving toooooo slow.
3. Goal: SWBAT: Find the sum of the forces in the y (perpendicular to surface - looks like an upside-down T) and x (parallel) directions
Pause at 2:41 and write an equation that sums up the forces in the Y (perpendicular) direction.
Solve for Fg and Fn.
4. Enjoy the magic trick :)
You should be done at 12:40 pm
Classwork:
1. Goal: SWBAT... Use Newton's 2nd law and Uniformly Accelerated Motion to find the coefficient of static friction between tires and snow
A. Pause the video at 0:20. Write your "given" information. VIDEO LINK --> http://www.flippingphysics.com/tire-friction.html
B. Nice minivan :-) Living the dream....
C. Pause at 1:30. What is your unknown?
D. Pause at 1:35. Which equation will you use to solve for coeff of static friction?
E. Pause at 1:52. Draw your FBD. Play, and check your answer. Revise if necessary.
F. Watch the rest. Pause each time Mr. P asks a question. Answer the question in your group (talk quietly amongst yourselves, then play the video to see if you're correct. Solve the problem in your notes. It should be 1:00pm
2. Goal: SWBAT... Use Newton's 2nd law to find the coefficient of static friction on an incline
A. USE G.U.E.S.S.. Draw the FBD. Pause the video as above, do the work, then check answers. Discuss answers the Mr. P's questions with your groupmates.
B. Solve for coeff of static friction It should be 1:15
C. Solve pg 142 #91 and 99
3. Quiz: At 1:25, I will post a quiz here. --> LINK
Solutions will be posted in the quiz link above at 1:40

CLASSWORK:
1. Complete Intro to Torque Activity
Each group will put one FBD on the whiteboard, and will have to explain their FBD and the answer to the question(s) at that station.
2. Torque Notes & One Torque Sample Problem
Which station is this sample problem similar to?
3. Practice Problems
pg 202 Example Problem #1
Tutoring available after school Mon, Tues, and Wed until 4:30. Lunch almost every day.
