First modified after Mark Bittman, he got the water and cooking times completely wrong.
Ingredients
1 cup Wild Rice
1 tbsp Butter
3 cups Vegetable Stock
1 Bay Leaf
Salt and Pepper
Tools
Medium Saucepan
Instructions
1. Place the butter, rice and bay leaf in the pan and turn heat to high. Toast the rice
2. When rice is toasted, add the stock and bring to boil. Correct seasoning
3. Cover and simmer on low for 30 minutes
4. Rice is done when tender regardless of liquid level. Add more liquid if necessary, cook till done and drain before serving
Notes
Minnesota Wild Rice, if possible. Such rice may be responsible for the difference in cooking times if this recipe was made for the California cultivars.See the caution below.
Caution
The bay leaf is too much.
The cooking time is way longer than shown - try doubling or tripling to at least over an hour.
